Driver and Renter Requirements
Minimum Age for Renter (Contract Signatory): The individual named on this agreement and financially responsible for the rental must be at least twenty-five (25) years of age and possess a valid, government-issued driver's license.
Minimum Age for Operators: All persons operating (driving) the Electric Golf Cart must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age and possess a valid, unexpired, government-issued driver's license.
License and Insurance: The Renter and all authorized Operators warrant that they possess a valid driver's license and are covered by a policy of automobile liability insurance that extends coverage to the operation of a Low-Speed Vehicle (LSV) or golf cart.
Intoxication: Operation of the golf cart while under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any impairing substance is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate termination of the rental without refund.
Vehicle Capacity and Safety
Capacity: The number of passengers must never exceed the designated seating capacity of the rented golf cart (4 or 6 persons, including the driver). Overloading the cart is prohibited and can result in damage and injury.
Seated Passengers: All drivers and passengers must be seated and wearing the provided seatbelts while the cart is in motion. Standing on seats or other parts of the cart is strictly forbidden.
Children: Children who require a child safety seat in a standard vehicle must be secured in an appropriate child safety seat within the golf cart, and this seat counts as one passenger.
Electric Operation and Charging
Electric Power/Range: These are high-performance electric vehicles. Renter understands that the operating range is dependent on speed, terrain, temperature, and passenger load.
***No refunds will be given for carts that run out of charge.
Charging Responsibility: It is the Renter's responsibility to monitor the battery life and charge the cart as needed. The cart must be charged at the end of each day's use to ensure full readiness for the next day.
Charging Protocol: The Renter agrees to only use the official brand charger provided with the rental unit and to follow all manufacturer charging instructions. Charging must be done in a dry, well-ventilated area.
Battery Damage: Renter acknowledges that allowing the battery to fully discharge (below 5-10% charge) can cause severe damage to the lithium battery system. The Renter will be held liable for any damages to the battery resulting from neglect or improper charging.
Retrieval Fee: A retrieval fee of $300 will be assessed if Buggyrents must retrieve the cart due to a completely discharged battery.
Operational Area and Rules
Road Use: The golf cart must be operated in strict accordance with all state and local traffic laws applicable to Low-Speed Vehicles (LSVs) or Neighborhood Electric Vehicles (NEVs). This includes obeying all stop signs, speed limits, and street markings.
Prohibited Areas: Operation of the cart is strictly prohibited on major highways, main roads with speed limits exceeding 35 MPH, designated golf cart restricted areas, beaches, sand dunes, or unpaved, off-road terrain.
Parking/Tickets: The Renter is solely responsible for all parking, traffic, or moving violations, including fines and towing fees, incurred during the rental period.
Keys/Security: The cart is equipped with a key or an NFC key card. The Renter is responsible for securing the card/key and the cart at all times. The cart must be locked and the key/keycard removed when the cart is left unattended.
Damages and Fees
Damage Liability: The Renter is fully responsible for any and all loss or damage to the golf cart, accessories, or charging equipment, regardless of fault, from the time of delivery until return.
Lost/Missing Equipment: Fees will be assessed for lost or damaged items:
Lost Key or NFC Key Card: $100.00
Lost or Damaged Charger/Cord: $450
Cleaning Fee: A cleaning fee of $100 will be assessed if the cart is returned with excessive dirt, sand, mud, or stains that require specialized cleaning beyond standard wash.
Repair Time: Renter is liable for the full daily rental rate for any day the golf cart is rendered unavailable for rental due to necessary repairs resulting from the Renter's negligence.
Street Legal Classificaton
***Street Legal Classification: All of our golf carts are classified as Low-Speed Vehicles (LSV) and are fully street legal on roads with posted speed limits of 35 MPH or less.
Low Speed Vehicles
Section 320.01(41), Florida Statutes, defines LSVs as “any four-wheeled vehicle whose top speed is greater than 20 miles per hour, but not greater than 25 miles per hour.” LSVs must be registered, titled and insured with personal injury protection (PIP) and property damage liability (PDL) insurance. Any person operating an LSV must have a valid driver license in their immediate possession.
LSVs may be operated only on streets where the posted speed limit is 35 MPH or less and must be equipped with the following safety equipment:
Headlamps;
Front and rear turn signals;
Stop lamps;
Tail lamps;
Reflex reflectors, red – one each side and one on the rear;
Exterior mirror on the driver side and an interior rear-view mirror or exterior mirror on passenger side;
Parking brake;
Windshield;
Seat belt for each designated seat; and a
Vehicle identification number (VIN)
